On Monday, October 16th, I was able to attend a choir festival in Cartwright Hall. This event brought high schoolers from all over northeast Ohio to Kent State for just a couple of days and taught them music that they would then perform. The concert ran rather smoothly. It started off with Kent State’s very own Nova Jazz Singers singing three songs. One of these was a very different arrangement of The Sound of Music’s “Favorite Things”. Then, two pre-auditioned students sang two pieces for the audience. One of these boys sang a song from the musical, Pirates of Penzance.
