“As long as we don’t get turned into something that looks more like high school, more like everybody else and less like us, I’ll be okay,” said Julia (page 17). Julia is one of the main characters in the book the other main character is Dave. In this part of the book Dave and Julia are talking before High School has started. They are talking about how they don't want to be “cliche ” and how they don’t want High School to change them. I chose this passage because I think it’s important not to change how you are based on what other people are doing and to keep your morals straight. In High School some people might start drinking or doing drugs because that's what everyone else is doing, but if that's not what you want to do don’t do it. This passage is significant to the novel because they make a whole list of clique things they don't want to do in High School and it is what the whole book is about. In the end they realize that they missed out on a lot of High School by not doing the clique things. So they decide to go a little out of there comfort zone and do each thing on the list they made. The impact you put on the world can be big or small as long as you leave it just a little bit better.
