High School It is said that high school is some of the best years of your life. You’re going into a new place with new faces and new opportunities, one does not know what to expect. I know I was terrified going into high school for the first time, but who isn’t? Each year brought new challenges and a new routine to get use to. Everyone has had a different and unique experience of high school, beyond the stereotypes. For me, high school was a place where I could “spread my wings” and try new things, I could be whoever I wanted to be. The transition from middle school to high school was a trip indefinitely. This was a time for me to find out who I was and who I am going to be. Freshman year: it was difficult going from being superior to everyone in middle school to being right back at the bottom again. Everyone always says these next four years fly by, and to make the best of it. At this time I did not know it yet but I would meet the people I would be friends with for the rest of my high school experience and still to this day. That year I learned that high school was nothing like the movies. There was no seniors beating up freshman, there wasn’t specific cliques, there wasn’t any musical numbers. Freshman year was simply a fresh start and time to grow up. I remember my 3 best friends and I worrying on the first day about where we were going to sit in the cafeteria. It was difficult being new to high school and trying to fit in, the last thing we wanted to do was to ruffle the feathers of an upper classman. As a freshman, you do everything possible to try to not stick out but when you feel and look so excluded from the rest of the student body, it is difficult.
