For instance, homework causes many kids to stay up late finishing it for the following day. If kids are staying up until 12:00 pm. doing homework and wake up at 6:30 to get to school on time, that kid has gotten six and a half hours of sleep no where close to the sleep they need. He said that schools start when the do for a number of reasons. One of the top reasons is tradition. We have been starting school at this time for hundreds of years. Also, depending on school schedules busses are not able to make their rounds at later hour because of rush hour and parents that drive their kids to school are going to experience the same problem. When schools start later in the day classes are cut and school years are extended and teachers would not want to do that. Not only would teachers have to stay in school longer into the summer a new curriculum would have to be made to accommodate the extra time that was added on and taken away from classes. The school would experience a severe backlash if families could not go on their summer vacation for an extra month. The principal wants to start later in the day and go further into the summer or even have a year round school year (see figure 3) it would not be able to do much without the entire township changing with them (Palcer,

In a year-round school, it may be hard to maintain a job or travel with family in the one month of summer that the school gives students as their summer break. Laura Kelsey, author of “Should You Give Up Summer Vacation” claims, “year-round schools have roughly the same number of vacation days as traditional school calendars” (Kelsey 28). The traditional school calendar gives students 3 months of summer vacation, allowing students and teachers a much needed break. Some would argue that those summer months are the downfall to losing some of the material taught in the previous year of school. However, Kelsey also states, “Learning doesn’t have to stop for kids on long summer breaks.…

At the beginning of summer many families are getting ready for vacations, camping, and more, but if there is year round schools, then they will have to put off family traditions and vacations they have been doing for years or have been looking forward to for a while, so they have to get rid of all that just for year round schooling, which just started. Also, what if the parents already paid for that trip? That wouldn't be fair for them to pay good money on a trip that the whole family wanted to go on, just for year round school. tronic media, people’s health have been gradually deteriorating. First of all, according to Maureen Mackey of ‘The Fiscal Times’, the National Sleep Foundation’s 2014 Sleep in America poll surveyed more than 1,00 parents to estimate how much sleep their children usually get on school-nights. It was estimated that ages 6-10 receive 8.9 hours; ages 11-12 receive 8.2; ages 13-14 receive 7.7 hours; and ages 15-17 receive 7.1 hours. On the contrary, experts recommend way more; 10-11 hours of sleep for ages 6 to 10 and 8.5 to 9.5 hours for children in the other age-groups. The parents also reported that almost 75% of the children ages 6-17 have at least one electronic device in their bedroom, and most of those children use those devices…
