In the article “Two Years Are Better than Four”, Liz Addison opposes the interpretation of modern day community colleges. In today’s society, community colleges are underappreciated and lack the respect that they deserve; community colleges are deemed “easygoing” since they are easier to get into then a so-called “privileged” college or university. Addison examines the expectations, affordability, level of education, and the growth and development of community colleges in contradiction of a four-year college or University. In high school, if not told already, students are planted with a seed.…

Ever since I played T-ball, I have always been the skinniest kid on all my sports teams. Being unusually underweight really upset me. I tried everything from eating protein-packed foods to daily weightlifting, but nothing seemed to work. Even some of my friends called me the “Twig.”…
Though I was not able to put all of my attention to school until junior year, I kicked it into high gear as soon as I could. Despite all my hard work, I was unable to find myself a place in the top 10%. This has hurt my appearance to colleges, but I hope that with these explanations of what I had to go through freshman and sophomore year, my position will be slightly more understandable. Engineering honors is the best thing for my future and everything I want to do with my life. Honors will help me grow as a student, so I can be a better employee and will help me grow as a person.…
The person I picked to discuss these goals with my friend Brady Shorey, he has been my inspiration in school and has become someone who I really look up to. The main reason I look up to Brady is because he has created a life out of nothing, he has worked incredibly hard for everything he has; leading to him becoming a successful lawyer, Brady had goals and dreams and through his hard work he transformed dreams and aspirations into reality. His general response to my goals was positive, the one suggestion he offered was to start now rather than waiting. He explained this suggestion by stating, “the longer you wait, the easier it’s going to become to put these goals off and forget about them.” He also encouraged me to really push myself, not settling with a lower bar, but really pushing yourself by setting high expectations for yourself.…
By joining Mighty Writers’ Teen Scholars Program, I hope to achieve multiple goals. The first goal I hope to achieve is to sufficiently prepare for college. My second goal is to become a more avid reader and better writer. That includes improving my writing and analytical skills. Furthermore, I also hope to improve my communication skills and be less hesitant to speak up about my opinions.…
“The American Dream is still alive out there, and hard work will get you there,” said Bill Rancic. “You don’t necessarily need to have an Ivy League education or to have millions of dollar startup money. It can be done with an idea, hard work and determination”. That quote defines my high school journey. All my life consisted of education, education, and education.…
High school are the years of a person’s life where they develop their habits, worth ethic, and outlook on life. During these prime years, a person develops their character. MY GOAL SETTING ISABELA R. Goals. Everyone has them, some come true and sadly most dont. Here are my short, medium, and long term goals. Hopefully mine come true or not! As long as my family and the people I care for are ok!…
High school is the transition between middle school and college, thus it is a significant point in a student's’ academic career. It is a time where students have to use more effort and new habits are set, so skills like organization will be crucial in college. Looking back, I can reflect on my high school years and conclude there are various things one should yield for consideration. Therefore, there are a few recommendations that I can suggest to someone starting their high school career. Middle school was the time of one’s educational career where homework was a heavy influence on grades.…
The first goal for me is to start doing my homework more and turn it in for all of my classes and now I will do this by having a reminder. My second goal is to listen to the teacher while she is talking and to not talk to my friends while she/he is talking. My third and final goal is to get to school on time a lot more by setting an alarm to wake me up in the morning.…
Bettering Yourself One of the most rewarding aspects of high school is all of the opportunities you have. This is the time where you can find out your interests and hobbies, who you are, and who your friends are. For example, my school offers about 15-20 different extracurricular activities; these include volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball, speech, play, FFA, swing choir, jazz band, and many more. Through these activities I found out I have a lot different interests and hobbies.…
You have to have a High School Degree. It mostly takes many years for you to become an athlete or competitor. You have to practice to get better.…
Personal Goals I aspire to attend a university and pursue a higher level of education. My parents did not attend college or even finish high school. I want to be the first in my family to pursue a college degree. I started my journey on the first day of high school. I recognized that I had put my academics before anything in order to have a promising future.…
Keeping my three personal and professional goals realistic, I would have to say a personal goal is to finish school at SNHU with a 3.0 GPA or above. I think a way for me to accomplish this goal is to stay focused on the tasks at hand, maintain a good relationship with my advisors and to utilize some of the tutoring options that are available to me as a student. Another personal goal is to work on myself, mentally. I cannot be a good mom or wife when I have the stress, anxiety and depression that I do. A way to help accomplish this goal is to not only start speaking with a psychiatrist (first appointment is August 4th) but to also have my thyroid checked.…
