High School Football Team Interview Report

Legs fidgeting nervously, heart rate rising, brain thinking of every possibility. This was the situation for me when I was at the most important interview of my life so far. That interview was for my high school football team’s leadership program. When I found out I was accepted, I was ecstatic. I put in a lot of work to be successful and I was proud. Since starting the leadership team, I have experienced a tremendous growth as both a person and a teammate and can use skills that I have learned through the rest of my life. Being on the leadership has helped me become a better teammate and person. Before the leadership team, I was more likely to lead by example then to lead vocally. But through my training, the most effective way to be leader is through a combination of both. Being a leader can be defined as the ability to influence to do something. Now this can be in a positive manner or a negative one. Gaining the trust and respect of the people looking up to you is a different story. In the meetings, my coaches taught me that, the way to most effectively lead is to gain the respect of your teammates through kindness, understanding and patiences. They are more likely to listen to someone who respects them not someone who makes other respect them. …show more content…
There will always need to be someone or some people to help lead the team through thick and thin. When my team was losing in the playoffs, it wasn't just one play that helped us advance, rather it was the attitude on the sideline. No one at any point during that game thought that we were going to lose. Players saw the leadership guys keep a positive mentality and they fed off of the leaders. Our team rallied around each other and helped advance to the next

To me a person who is a leader leads by example. Ever since I was in middle school I have tried to always do the right thing and guide my peers into a direction that is best for them. Since coming to Woodberry my Freshman year I feel as though I have grown stronger in this trait. One example that stands out particularly is when I was on the Bengal football team, and it was a scorching day early on in the year. It seemed as though everybody had a terrible day, and it was looking like we were having a horrible practice.…

As a 16-year-old, I never considered myself a leader. In my junior year of high-school, I had the opportunity to participate in Link Crew. Had I not been nominated by my favorite math teacher, I’m not sure I would have even considered joining. However, I am glad I ended up joining because Link Crew was an overall great experience that allowed me to mature and truly understand the concept of a leader. I learned to become tolerant of others, to become more comfortable in speaking to a group of strangers and to lead younger individuals.…

When I look back on how I became the person that I am today, I think of all the people, activities, and opportunities that molded me and helped me become successful leader. One activity in my community that has really helped me develop into a leader was when we held our youth basketball clinics each year. These clinics were every Saturday from 8am to noon for two months during the school year. The high school basketball players helped run the clinics, but it was not mandatory for us to go. I went to all of these clinics because I found out just how important it was to give back to the community which had gave so much to me.…

Strictly speaking, I never really be a leader. I personally didn’t have many opportunities or the desire to be a leader. This is about my personality, but I do want to push myself a little and have some experiences before I start my career. The closest title that I ever had as a leader was the Vice President of service for Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) in my previous college. When I was offered the opportunity, I knew I had to take the responsibility because I thought that could be my first time being a leader.…

My past leadership responsibilities have taught me that admitting my mistakes and showing humanity betters myself as well as those around me. My peers trust and have more faith in me because I have demonstrated humanity to them instead of acting as if I am perfect. This allows fellow students to approach me for advice when they have problems because they know that I am willing to help them as well as be their voice if they do not feel comfortable presenting the conflict. I should be chosen for Camp because my commitment, work ethic, and dedication to my school, community, and athletics have awarded and prepared me for this opportunity. I am a different type of leader because I am not an outgoing person, which is usually a characteristic…
