High School Football Short Story

All it took was one push for me to have 31 and ¾ of a tooth instead of 32. I had just finished my snack at afterschool, apples and peanut butter to be exact, and had decided to go play football on the blacktop until my parents arrived. I was in fifth grade, and all of the other kids playing were in 6th grade and way bigger than me. I would have probably been the last one picked for a team but my friends was one of the captains so he picked me second to last. I played through almost the whole game without touching the ball once. Eventually the other team stopped even covering me so my teammates were forced to throw to me. The first one I dropped but it wasn’t my fault. If you are just standing around for thirty minutes your mind sometimes goes to other thoughts, like what you’re going to have for dinner that night. The next ball thrown at me I made sure to catch though. I turned around to run towards the end zone and there was no one there. I moved my little legs as …show more content…
I rolled around on the ground holding my mouth. It felt like I had just been chewing glass. After what seemed like forever the afterschool counselors ran over to me. They brought me to the bathroom and told me to open my mouth to wash out all of the blood and the gravel. As soon as i opened my mouth a waterfall of blood began to pour out. By the time I had finished my mom had came to pick me up. Before I could even say a word my mom already had her fingers in my mouth, inspecting the damage. “You chipped your tooth!?!?”, were the first words out of her mouth. I had not even noticed. The moment I saw it I knew there was no way I was going to school the next day, but my mother had other plans. Despite continuous pleads my mother still forced me to go to school the next

Boycott Football Re: “Abolish high school football!” written by Raymond A. Schroth Football is the sport with a innumerable of injuries and deaths. I can agree with the writer about how at least 1 teenager that plays football for high school gets a concussion. I can also start that at least one football player has been injured. Every year, every day, every hour, every minute, and every second during the football season at high schools there’s an injured player or a player who perhaps died on the field because of a concussion or his head was hit really hard. Wearing a helmet during the game isn’t enough to protect you from getting injured.…

To Play or Not To Play???“Put Me in Coach” When people reminisce about their high school years, fond memories of being at the height of fitness, spending countless hours with teammates, and playing in the “Big Game” are often treasured. However, some students at St. Anthony High School are choosing not to be involved in the athletic program for social and academic reasons. As a result, many are missing out on one of the most important aspects of their high school career. As the sun plummets to its end on a Friday evening, in a small town just north of the capital of Texas. In sixth grade, I wanted nothing more than to make Lusher’s middle school flag football team. I had dreamed of being on the team from the very first day I heard about it; all of my friends were trying out with me; and we had grand plans for a year of non-contact, semi-athletic exertion ahead of us. Having been anxiously awaiting the lunch period when the team roster would be revealed, I was thusly dismayed, disappointed, and disheartened when my name was not one of the eighteen posted on the PE office door. My mother, in all her eternal wisdom, saw a way out of the pit of despair I had sunk into: Lusher was starting an Academic Games team, and she thought I might enjoy playing. I was more than somewhat hesitant; she was more than somewhat…

I was smiling the whole time as the skin around my neck was being ripped off. Well I wasn’t actually smiling and as brutal as I made it sound, it wasn’t as horrific an event now that I look back on it. The incident occurred while I was on Spring Break during my freshman year in high school. My family and I were vacationing in Gatlinburg, Tennessee;which if I might add we’ve been there about eight times since I was seven years old. I remember clearly that day down to the exact temperature.…
