The rejection was enough to reduce me to tears. Then the phone rang, it was my close friend who also applied, she exclaimed that she had been accepted; she assumed that I was accepted as well. I did not think I would have to summon the courage to tell her I was denied. When I finally choked out the news, there was a long silence and then I hung up. Now I attend Saint John Vianney High School, where I am a 2 sport varsity athlete and a member of The National Honors Society, Latin Honors Society, and National English Honors Society, as well as hold multiple leadership positions within the school. I have also been able to win a state championship in basketball and a conference championship in volleyball, all while participating in student service programs and obtaining honor role of distinction. If I attended the vocational school I never would have achieved my greatest accomplishments, made the lifelong friendships that I have, and been able to develop my athletic talent which I hope to pursue in college. Without this rejection I would not have been offered the opportunities which molded me into the person I am
