EOP Essay
Through my high school experiences I have had the opportunity to be involved in my community, help others. This played a major role in my decision to pursue secondary education. While I worked at the Isabella Nursing Home, I witnessed patients who have experienced stroke and were helpless in their abilities to move. These are people that have been walking for most of their lives and now cannot walk at all. To witness a physical therapist bond with their patient and lead to them attaining a normal life was very inspiring for me., I have personally seen patients that were on stretchers and in just the span of week they were walking with an assistance of a cane. Throughout high school, I have been involved in many extracurricular activities which most certainly affected my academic performance. As a member of the varsity soccer team in my school, a Caring Partner in a nursing home, the leader of the Fitness Club and many other involvements, at times it was a challenge to perform to my full potential academically.. Being involved in these activities taught me that I had to work on my time management and set priorities for myself. Though the activities were very rewarding as I was exposed to a great body of people, in college, I vow to disallow the extracurricular activities affect my education. I am excited to go into college with such lesson and value in hand as it would direct me to the right path in becoming a very successful student.
As a low income student, the Education Opportunity Program would benefit me greatly financially and also academically. As the cost of college is continually on the rise, EOP would provide me with the opportunity to get a step closer to pursue my dream career as physical therapists and nurture me in becoming the best individual I can potentially be. From the extra academic help to the great body of individuals EOP would expose me to, this would indeed become a dream come
