Nora Gold states that curfew laws take away some of the civil rights that teens and young adults have as Americans. Gold states in her essay, “The most obvious constitutional problem is that curfews grant police the power to detain citizens for nothing more than appearing young.” This quote is stating that curfew laws punish anyone who is out after a certain time just because they look young. This also gets in the way of teens who work night shifts for their job or even just being outside their house on the sidewalk (Gold, Nd). Another thing that curfew laws violate are some rights that the teens have from the first amendment, which are not allowing them to go to religious services and even meeting for school that take place at night (Gold,…

There has been a non-scientific survey that has reported 50 percent of parent that have agree or are undecided with the new time changes and 60 percent of staff agreed with the change. I believe that parents think it’s right for their children to start later or earlier because of the evidence that they have been provided about their children academic improvement. Staff had worked in school with the children and they might also believe it is right because it can change their school education but they don’t understand that it can affect the different schools because it will not be the same times for all…

This is inconvenient for a number of reasons. Parents cannot get their children to school on time if the school time is changed, and it interrupts the teens schedules who are already accustomed to the 7:30 time scheduling. In the passage “ High schools starting later to help sleepy teens” by: Michelle Trudeau it states that later school times are helping the teens be more alert in class, they have less depression issues and the parents have less problems than before due to their emotions being more regulated.…

Because of this, the city council should think in not putting a curfew in effect for young teenagers due to making it being unfair to them. Another thing that this curfew can do if it was in effect by the city council is interrupt family related activities that are done outside at night. If a family was to go camping, then it is not possible because of the curfew and that it will not allow them to enjoy camping outside due to the curfew in effect at 10 P.M. on the weekdays or midnight on the weekend. Based on this, the family's teenage kids will not be allowed outside to enjoy their family activities because of the specific time of the curfew. From this, it show that curfew will be unfair to teenagers on having an extraordinary night with doing what their family have planned to do together.…

The argument based around curfew is essentially centered around the concept that teens will stay out of trouble when forced to stay at home. However, there cases on the opposing side in which curfews actually prevent teens from getting into trouble, but just as many or more cases found teens in performing these criminal activities. In the article, “OP-ED: Why Don’t Youth Curfews Work?” by Mike Males, the issue of the concept of curfew is brought up.
