Throughout my earlier years of high school, I was never taught how to properly write a paper. My English classes mainly focused on vocabulary and sentence structure, which is essential to writing a decent paper, but I had no idea how to even begin one. Although I passed my placement test into duel enrollment, I still had my doubts. Within the first few weeks, we were given our first assignment; A 5 page narrative paper. Miller required. After an immense amount of hard work, I received a 96% on that assignment. My last strength is being able to manage my time efficiently, and my focus.
Without these 2 things, I don’t believe I would be able to write like I can today.
Throughout the year, I also realized some things that I had trouble with. My biggest weakness is my word choice. Although I can get perfect scores on vocabulary tests, I struggle to implement them within my writing. In my argumentative paper, I believe that I could have gotten a better grade if I used more persuasive and sophisticated words. Another weakness of mine is using commas. I don’t struggle with it as badly as I used to, but I still catch myself questioning where they go sometimes. I’ve struggled with this in each paper, but I’ve noticed that it improves each time. formatting. I notice I tend to mix up APA and MLA formatting. In all of my papers, I have done it correctly, but for some time I had to continuously look at handouts explaining them both.
