Martin has low level of self interest because he does not care much about others, as indicated by his unwillingness to volunteer or do pro-bono work. According to Adler, social interest shows itself objectively when others work together toward the betterment of human society, although Martin is a lawyer, he could care less about helping the less fortunate as he once was. It also shows itself subjectively, as people that have things in common with other people want to be part of a group but Martin does not want that, as evidenced by him not wanting to join the law firm. Martin’s personality is very self centered because of these two traits. Social interest does not automatically emerge, it must be nurtured and cultivated, because of this we can infer Martins parents never cultivated this social interest which is why Martin social interest level is so

This conversation applies to the outcome of the lives of both Wes Moore’s because they are both products of the environments they grew up in, they are products of their own expectations, and they are product of others’ expectations that they took as their own. If you’re a product of your environment, that means your character and future is molded by the factors around you. If you’re a product of your own expectations, it means that you will only become and grow into the standards you hold for yourself. If you’re a product of others’ expectations that you take as yourself, you’ll only grow to the standards that other people think you can reach. Both Wes Moores are products of their environments because there were certain times while they were both growing up where they let the dangerous factors define and shape their personality and actions.…

The Other Wes Moore by Wes Moore juxtaposes the lives of two men who grew up in similar environments but ended up taking diverging paths. The author Wes Moore perseveres through the hardships he faced and ends up a Rhodes Scholar, whereas the other Wes Moore is dealt a life sentence. The author poses the question, “Do you think we are all just products of our environments?” Due to their ostensibly similar upbringings, one may suggest that the antithetical outcomes of the two Wes Moores were caused by the individual choices made by them, but upon closer look it is evident that specific subsets of their environment impacted each of them for better or for worse.…

While negative social determinants have an obvious and clear effect on a person’s physical health, each individual’s…
