1. Only one hospital with only one dedicated flor for AIDS patients sounds so cruel. Unfortunately, our society have less value for some groups of people. I am sorry that your friend had to experience such pain. Since i don’t know much about the issue, almost everything surprised me, but at the same time I was able to make sense with some of the new materials I learned, because so many things occur like a pattern. I have heard stories where little kids were given bloods that is contaminated with AIDS/HIV. I knew that mostly people who have multiple sex partners or people who are having unprotected sex are affected by the disease. I knew that the disease is more spread in Africa where people are poor. I did not know how and when the epidemic started. I think the media plays an important role on many things. When people do not want to do research on a subject they simply believe what they hear from the media news that are biased. Media reflect the issue in a way so people think that AIDS/HIV is on our past or that exist only elsewhere. This week the material showed me progress of AIDS. How it started and where it is right now. I learned that people with AIDS were seen as nonhuman and treated badly when the disease first discovered. I am impressed that people fought for their rights and were able to progress towards creating some positive changes. We all know that inequality is everywhere. As Bono states “the accident of where you live can decide whether you live”. I agree that where, when, and how people live is a big indicator of inequality that they would be exposed to. In this case, during the 1980’s people with AIDS were seen as diseases rather than being individuals who have disease. However, that has changed a little bit. At least societies cannot request something cruel such as gathering signatures to tattoo people with AIDS. Also the fact that people in Africa, people of color, women are affected by the disease disproportionately is a big indicator of
