In the course of a person's life, there will be many situations in which they will have to be brave. Whether it's being bullied, getting injured, or an injury occuring to an important fmily member in your life, you have to persevere through it and be courageous. Two people who do that are Will Kane and Sanger Rainsford. In the story, The Most Dangerous Game, written by Richard Connell, a world renowned hunter becomes the hunted and has to fight for his life for three whole days. In the film, High Noon, written by Carl Foreman, Frank Miller is coming for sweet revenge on Marshal Will Kane who sent him up North to jail. The movie takes place in the small, developing town of Hadleyville located in the New Mexico Territory, but the story takes place on Ship-Trap Island, an isolated island, somewhere close to Brazil. "THE PLACE is HADLEYVILLE, population around 400, located in a Western territory still to be determined, a town just old enough to have become pleasantly aware of its existence, and to begin thinking of its appearance" (Foreman). This citation shows the reader that Hadleyville is a smaller town that is not heavily populated, but there are people unlike in The Most Dangerous Game where there are only three people. Those people are Sanger Rainsford, General Zaroff, and Ivan. Hadleyville is a civilized town that includes transportation, a saloon, and a marshal, but Ship-Trap in the book lacks all of these components. "Bleak darkness was backing out of the sea and jungle when Rainsford sighted lights. He came upon them as he turned a crook in the coast line; and his first thought was that he had come upon a village, for there were many lights" (Connell 6). In this brief description included in the story, it depicts what Rainsford saw when he had woken up. The island included a dense, tropical jungle covered with trees and that he was surrounded by water on all sides. From the story, it can be inferred that the isolated island is near Rio, Brazil. Unlike Hadleyville, the setting in The Most …show more content…
In High Noon, they talk more about a woman and a man's role in society, but in The Most Dangerous Game the theme is more about the feeling of fear and if men feel it, while being hunted. The settings are very unlike each other due to the fact that one takes place in a somewhat civilized town while the other takes place on an isolated island. Lastly, the characters in both the movie and the book have to fight against antagonists and show how brave and courageous they have acted. Unlike most other stories and movies, these two characters also feel doubt. In conclusion, High Noon and The Most Dangerous Game are similar in the way that they are written though you can also point out quite a few differences as

In fact, these two works have a handful of other things in common, but they have quite a few differences as well. To start a great list of differences, the main characters of this story, although found in a similar situation, handle things quite differently. The film High Noon portrays a character that is a new kind of hero, a human you can find in real life. " Then his control gives way, and the tide of bitterness and anger overflows him. He pounds his battered fists on the desk top brutally, almost sobbing his outrage.…

Another significant difference between the two stories is that the setting of "Child By Tiger" is more generic and broad. For example, “Nebraska had just kicked to us”(Wolfe) explains where the story is set, and it is analytical because Nebraska, a Southern state, contained a lot of racism. The reader can interpret that because Dick is of African American descent, he is segregated. Realistic settings similar to what the one in “Child by Tiger” are typical of a literary genre. In "The Most Dangerous Game," the setting does not require much interpretation, for example, “The old charts call it ‘Ship-Trap Island,” Whitney replied. ”…

Without the setting in “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell, there would be no plot in the story. For instance, with an isolated island there is no liberation, and there is no rescue. The island is surrounded by water with no other places located within swimming range. There are sharp, jagged rocks deep within the vast ocean surrounding Rainsford, therefore, swimming anywhere has a high risk of injury. “Ship Trap Island” got it’s name from stories of boats hitting the large rocks and sinking, so no sailor wants to go to the island.…

Another key difference between the story and film is the duration of the game; in the film the duration is just one night while in the story Rainsford must survive three days in the purgatory created by General Zaroff. The final difference is how Zaroff dies, in the film Eve and Rainsford make their way through the swamp and into Zaroff’s bedroom where he ultimately kills Zaroff. In the story however the plan to kill Zaroff is much more convoluted and Rainsford has to jump off a cliff into the water and swim to the Chateau and then just as in the film, Rainsford kills Zaroff. All in all there are many similarities as well as differences in ‘The Most Dangerous Game’. The story in a way makes the game seem as a terrible situation which all though it is a horrible situation in both cases, in the film adaptation you see the most dangerous game as being something that can be won.…
