What is a workout?
A workout can be defined as a physical activity that includes twenty five percent perspiration and seventy five percent of determination. It can also be stated in other words as one part physical exertion and three parts self discipline. Doing it is very easy but getting started is difficult.
A workout has the ability to make you better than you were yesterday. It has the power to strengthen the body, relax the mind, toughen the spirit and boosts up your confidence levels. Once we start working out regularly working out our problems diminish, as our confidence grows day by day.

Whereas HIIT is a mixture of two or more workouts, that are very rigorous and exhaustive in nature. These rigorous workouts in HIIT are preceded by warm up workouts and are followed by workouts that are of low intensity intervals and cool your body down.
Talking as a whole HIIT makes a person more tired in a shorter interval of time than normal conventional workouts. A person undertaking HIIT does more in less time and a person who follows conventional workouts does less in more time.
Example of conventional workouts: - Doing bench press in a set of 6, with each set containing up to 20 repetitions and each set has an interval of 30 seconds or more.
Example of HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training): - Doing bench press, burpees and dumbbell press in a set which contain 10 to 15 repetitions of each variety. These sets are followed by short interval of rest which usually is for 10 to 15 seconds.

All activities performed by our body require energy. HIIT helps us to burn our calories and lose fat in two ways.
First, while we are working out, our body needs lots of calories to compensate the loss of calories due to rigorous workouts. And moreover in HIIT as the time interval between two sets is very less, the recovery time given to our body is also less. Hence in HIIT more calories are consumed in HIIT training than in conventional workouts.
The second benefit from HIIT is the after the rigorous workouts. As discussed in the previous section, HIIT causes micro cracks in proteins of our muscles. These cracks are repaired with amino acid fillings between them. This is a very costly process in terms of energy and burns lot of calories. In most cases this is a major cause for the depletion of fat layer due to workouts.

Most of the people think that taking less of fats and more of carbohydrates will help them reduce weight. But researches have shown that consuming fats in specified quantities and very less amount of carbohydrates helps weight loss.
