Dolce And Gabbana Advertisement Analysis

High-end perfume and cologne companies want to sell their expensive products to everyone they can, even if it means portraying a ridiculously unrealistic, yet lavish, lifestyle. They want people to think, “Hey, this could be me!” Michael Kors, Gucci, and Dolce & Gabbana are a few of the companies that are pushing an exciting lifestyle. What’s the likeliness of receiving this wonderful lifestyle after buying their product? The likeliness doesn’t exist. If anything, the only thing that’ll happen will be getting a flatter wallet. Although it my look ridiculous, sexy adventures sell. In a Michael Kors ad for women’s fragrance found in Cosmopolitan, a magazine targeted at young women, shows a beautiful woman and a handsome man running through a body of water with their arm around each other, dressed in formal wear. We can also see that the man pulling a boat behind him possibly to the beach, following desire. This plays into “men act and women appear.” He’s doing an action while she is there to look good. We can see her hair blowing completely to the side while his clothes and hair are pretty much still laying flat. “Let Desire Lead the way” is the statement on this advertisement. The woman appears to be slightly more in front of the man, suggesting that she’s the desire because of the perfume she is wearing. Maybe her …show more content…
Dolce & Gabbana also are playing into the glam life with their advertisements for perfume/cologne. We can once again see that a beautiful woman and a handsome man are the center of attention. This one is just as strange of a picture as the Michael Kors one is. The two are shown standing on a snowy ground with snow-capped mountains behind them. A ski pole can be seen in both of their hands, giving the assumption that they’re skiing. Skiing in the mountains is adventurous and may not be something everyone gets to

This is a primary example of sex in today’s advertisement. Unlike other subtle advertising that require the works of our imagination, this advertising jumps straight to the point. These ads purposely get you to think of two things: sex and their products. Our brains have been hard-wired for billions of years to transform everything into sex. The marketers use this fact to target their customers.…

The very line “Blow in her face and she’ll follow you anywhere” sums it up that a woman obviously is reduced to doing whatever a man wants her to do; even if that means getting smoke blown in her face and following the man around happily; Moreover, not to mention that the white smoke has a double meaning. According to Andrea Levy women are made to believe that sex is their only power. This ad is an apt reflection of female…

The commercials were an overnight success and quickly became a cultural phenomenon, generating significant word-of-mouth buzz online and offline. In its commercial, Old Spice effectively convinces its viewers of the urgency surrounding their new product by appealing to their own underlying desires, affecting their decision making without being cognitively recognized. While the ad does perform testimonial method, it lacks any other marketing techniques performed well. The ads demographic is for men and women, especially younger couples, as it makes it clear it is a unisex fragrance, which is controversial in itself. What scent should be considered manly and what should be considered feminine, and who decides that? Couples wanting to smell alike is not a common desire proposed in the media, so this perfume tried to introduce something new. The ad attempts to use many marketing techniques however, not done properly, lose their purpose all together.…

Every ad that appears within a magazine always has some kind of purpose or intention for the readers. Most advertisements that are put in magazines are to persuade the readers of the magazine to want to buy the product being sold. A great amount of thought goes behind these ads to make it appealing to the eye and to control where the eyes move around the ad. In one particular magazine by the name of “Seventeen Magazine” the publishers first grab the readers attention by having Nina Dobret on the cover wearing a bright orange, pink, and red outfit. On the cover it also has bold text that reads “50 cute boots inside”, “best fall clothes under $20”, and “hair products” in bright letters.…

Golden Ascension A golden-clad Charlize Theron struts assertively through the luxurious palace hall straight toward the viewer in one frame, and strikes a pose facing away from the viewer in the other. “J’adore Dior” accompanies her on the advertisement in an elegant font; moreover, it’s in French — an elegant language in itself. The advertisement’s golden tones, French text, font, bright lighting, and the model’s facial and body language all work together to create an elegant and luxurious tone that appeals to the target audience’s desire for wealth and beauty leading them to purchase the J’adore Dior perfume.…

Dior’s placement of the cologne bottle in the forefront of the image, which makes it the only other focal point of the ad, suggests that it has bottled it up for you and is ready for the taking. The fact that Dior presents the cologne as a change agent for your life, and that they took the time to bottle it up for you, makes us feel as though they have done us a favor and we owe it to them to buy this cologne. The aspiration to gain the ambiance and characteristics of Depp not only applies to men but to women also. Dior utilizes this sentiment by placing the ad in a women’s magazine.…

Indeed, the video plays out like a lot of other perfume ads do. Indeed, like in Dolce & Gabbana’s advertisements, a lot of perfume ads showcase a beautiful woman being admired either by a crowd or by a man; the product—the perfume bottle—is also absent from the advertisement until the few last seconds (“Perfume Advertisements”, 2016). If it was not for the fact that “Dolce and Gabbana” is written at the beginning of the advertisement, it would be hard to guess what the advertisement was trying to sell. Even then, knowing Dolce & Gabbana sell various products, there is almost no hints that the commercial is trying to sell a fragrance, besides the appearance of flowers, representing the floral scent of the perfume. While I believe the concept of the advertisement is interesting, it could have been interpreted and filmed in a more original way in order to truly set this ad apart from those of Dolce & Gabbana’s…
