High Divorce Rate In America

Did you know that Alaska has the highest divorce rate being fourteen per every 1,000 state resident over the age of fifteen? Over time both marriage and divorce have become more popular, but lately divorce has taken the reins on this horse and riding with it. Many people today do not understand why people even get married with today’s culture and divorce rates, but what if there were some reasons behind some divorces or things that could help marriages survive? The attributing high divorce rate of American marriages is due to the inadequate amount of education of the spouses, the increasing amount of premarital pregnancies, and the varied age at which couples get married. One of the biggest problems when it comes to divorces is the age of the spouses when they get married. Nicholas Wolfinger tells how not waiting long enough and waiting too long could be the cause of some divorce cases. He informs that people who get married at a young age are at high risk of divorce because of the jealousy and pressure in the future. Then Mr. Wolfinger also claims that after the age of thirty-two the chance of divorce increases by 5% each year (Wolfinger). This helps to further the reason that different ages people are married at can affect the outcome of marriages. Generally speaking, there are many factors that lead to divorce, but I believe that an inadequate amount of education, the rising amount of premarital pregnancies, and the age people get married at are the most attributing factor in these situations.
