I would have to say that high caseloads are the main source of stress. It is no wonder that officers with heavy caseloads are the most stressful at work because they have a lot of cases to deal with. Paperwork follows as the next most major stress factor for many officers. Deadlines, many of which are unexpected or can’t be controlled, are the third most common stress factor. These sources of stress typically combine to produce an infuriating result, such as not enough time to supervise caseloads correctly. As a consequence, some officers rank their cases into offenders they supervise closely and those they partly, mostly, or even entirely pay no attention to.
