My plant I chose is High bush Blueberries, it was first domesticated in Whitesbog, NJ 1916 by a lady named Elizabeth White. Blueberries were used for food, by Native Americans because of their health benefits, however domestication took longer than let’s say maize. they were a big part of Native American’s diets. Blueberries were considered impossible to domesticate until cranberry farmer Elizabeth White decided to take on the task with the help of a botanist Fred Coville. She was trying to domesticate blueberries, then she read an article by Fred Coville and contacted him. She offered her farm for him to experiment. During his experiments Coville discovered blueberries cannot grow in acidic soil, which lead to him and Elizabeth successfully
