“Learning never exhausts the minds,” by Leonardo Da Vinci. Learning is a good way to discover new things in the life. Everybody knows the term “anatomy”, but I do not think people know about the history of this term. Similarly, when the students study about anatomy, the first page of the anatomy textbook did not introduce the history of it, instead the publishers of the textbooks introduce about themselves. As the anatomy learners, I like to learn about the history of this term and the career, which related to this subject. However, some people think the history is not an important concept, but without the background, the term does not exist.

However, Da Vinci was known as the hidden father of Anatomy because no one knows about his work until 18th century. Although he was a first person, who dissected the human body, he kept his work secret. The society did not see his amazing drawing until 1796 when John Chamberlaine published Da Vinci’s anatomical drawings into the public (Toledo-Pereyra). On the other hand, Vesalius is more famous than Da Vinci because he used his knowledge to teach other people, who did not know anything about anatomy. In addition, he also found out the new methods to treat wounds for the king. For these incredible innovations, everybody knows him as the father of modern anatomy. In other words, both Vesalius and Da Vinci are important for the history of anatomy.
“Structures support functions,” Dr. Chan, my Anatomy professor, said it to a whole class in the first day of class. The students always confused between anatomy and physiology, so what is physiology? It is the functional processes of an organism, organ, or system (“physiology”). When the learners know about the locations of human system such as skeletal, cardiovascular, nervous, lymphatic, and integumentary, they need to know how does each system connect to each other to keep the human alive and …show more content…
As men and as physicians, they could supersede the midwife’s authority at the bedside, but the midwife, not a doctor, was the first person most women summoned when they were in labor (Charlotte G. Borst).
However, some cases were not successful. During Martha Ballard’s era, the midwives still feared the death of mothers or children during the labor. For these reason, some propagandas were against all women midwives because they thought women should stay at home to take care of her family, and should not get any education in the college. In the “Man-Midwife” propaganda, it had a half man and a half midwife to illustrate the monster during the labor at that time (see figure 3).

Study of anatomy is really interesting because human can discover their own body functions and structures. Thus, they know how to protect their health, so they can have a long and healthy life.
