Hidden Gem in an Alley
Imagine… You are going to meet some friends out to have dinner. “No big deal!”, you’re thinking- not the first time. Now Imagine… The GPS on your phone, that is directing you to the restaurant is taking you down a back alley of the town. GPS showing you that in 200 feet, you have reached your destination. What would be your thoughts and feelings about going to eat at a restaurant in a back alley? About five years ago, that same situation happened to me. Myself and a group of my friends agreed we all wanted to try out this highly recommended restaurant, The Goblin Market. It was locally known as the town of Mt. Dora’s ‘Hidden Gem’. No one ever mentioned that this ‘Hidden Gem’ was nestled away in an alley, but it was and has been

Ironically, each of us girls decided to get a martini and chose a different flavor. I went with the Key Lime martini. It had graham cracker encrusted around rim of glass, with the smell and sweet creamy taste of key lime pie, still makes my taste buds aroused thinking about it. Each of our martini’s ordered were not only delicious but a beautiful to look at, a crafted master piece. As an appetizer I got the Lobster Bisque soup. The bisque’s coloring of peach-cream, was not too thick nor thin having the perfect consistency. A tasteful blend I personally enjoyed with the hint of dry sherry and the large pieces of real lobster. The Filet Marchard De Vin was my entrée, a flawless presentation of the eight-ounce filet sitting atop a potato cake, topped with melted fontina cheese and finished with a port wine sauce. The entrée had a succulent sinful taste with the perfectly cooked juicy filet. An excellent choose of ingredients, the sweet (port wine sauce), salty (potato cake and seasonings), and cream (fontina cheese) blended together magnificently. Unfortunately, we all were way too full to even attempt to try a

On the 25th of September in the year 2015, my mother had given me a form of transportation along with my friends to the Cross County mall located at 8000 Mall Walk in Yonkers, NY. At the Cross County mall, we stopped at bus 25 and examined four women and three males, two of which had headphones in and taking pictures of the herbs. Once we got to a pretzel store, Auntie Annie’s, there was an elongated line in which we had to wait in since we were famished after not eating in school. When we received our food, we had noticed that all our orders were incorrect, causing us to consider the location untrustworthy. After we ate, we had a seat on the nearest bench, which is where most of the observation took place.…

Many individuals, myself included, will always have family members that can be defined as unusual. Whether it be at family barbecues or even out on a vacation, these family members are customary to making themselves stand out. Uncle Arturo (or 'Art' for short) stands about 6 feet, 2 inches tall, has short and curly black hair that has begun to recede, and has stomach that's as hard as a rock although it bulges out to be as big as a basketball. Uncle Art is notoriously known for his colossal appetite, his teenage mindset, as well as his mannerisms while intoxicated. It was a tranquil but immensely scorching Tuesday morning in Palm Springs.…

Every time I walk into Texas Roadhouse my eyes wonder over to where the rolls and their special cinnamon butter waiting to be consumed by the customer. I hear country music playing in the background, and feel peanuts crumbling under my feet like leaves on a beautiful autumn day. Without looking at the menu, my mind is already preparing my stomach for the flavorful food that I am about to encounter. Texas Roadhouse gives the Newark population somewhere local to get a great steak while getting a significate value. From personal experience most of the other steakhouses will get very pricey for a family of five making it difficult to dine at their restaurant while living on a tight budget.…
