Hi Shanique: The Advantages Of Formal Conferences

Decent Essays
Hi Shanique,
I agree an advantage of formal conferences is parents have the chance to come out and receive information to give them knowledge on what is going on in the classroom and the different activities or policies that are taking place. It is very beneficial for a center when the parents, teachers, and office staff can come together and get on one accord for the betterment of the children’s overall well-being. However, you are right when parents do not show up to the formal conferences it tends to have a negative effect on their child’s behavioral and developmental performance.

My APTT meeting went very well, but when discussing the benefits and downsides of APTT meetings, there were many downsides. I didn’t really agree with the telling the students that if their parents come they will bring home a game for them. I know if I was a parent who was working crazy hours and/or multiple jobs I would already feel guilty enough without feeling like I was disappointing my child. There is also the fact that the majority of the parents who come are those who are already in frequent contact with the teacher, and those parents who are really needed at the meeting are the ones who don’t show…

The beginning of Chapter 3 lays out the three main factors that are associated with the relationship between exceptional parents and the classroom. These parents over the years have provided many beneficial changes because they would advocate for their children 's’ disabilities. Educators also seek parental involvement because studies show that a student’s grades tend to improve when the parents are actively involved with helping their student academically at home. The positive results that come from both statements above links to the judicial mandates that require parents to be informed and involved with their student’s education. The goal once again is to make sure these students have as much resources as possible to help them learn the curriculum.…

No matter the subject matter in which the concept of originals is discussed, they carry a valuable connotation. Taken for face value, and without a mindset well versed in any social science, originals are merely seen as items, tangible or intangible, that are more expensive than forgeries and less common as well. However, after reading “Time Maps” by Zerubavel and watching Bloom's Ted Talks speech, it becomes evident how their approaches of historical continuity exemplify how originals act as mnemonic facilitators that draw a bridge to connect noncontiguous spaces. Their theories are heavily embedded within each other; however, at the same time, the paths each one takes to achieve their theories do differ. Evidently, Bloom and Zerubavel theorize…

As we saw in her experiments with the people who participated, the improvements they made were “still there five months after having done the training” (Bavelier) showing video games can offer extensive retention of the information they provide.…
