Hi Ju Young Analysis

Decent Essays
Hi Ju Young, I agree with you that the Secret Clinical is categorized as women’s men because although Susan is at work, she is focusing on men instead. She mentions that her new co-worker doesn’t have a ring, which she then predicts that he must be unmarried. Even in a commercial that shows women in powerful roles, women working in jobs instead of being housewives, the media focuses on female stereotypes. For example, emphasizing that Susan is interested in cute men and seeks a man to marry. Almost as if the purpose of women is for them to get married. Furthermore, I think it is interesting that you see an overlap for the Miller Lite commercial, and I can agree with your point. I agree because not only is the woman accusing him of not being

In the Miller Lite “Man Up” commercial, I see there was an overlap between man’s man and man’s woman. At the beginning, the main male character came over to the bar and asked for a bottle of beer. He was good-looking, maybe he was a businessman, and had a nice muscle body. He told the bartender that he didn’t care the taste of beer. After that, the bartender, who was beautiful and attractive, gave him a Miller Lite beer and teased him about he was wearing a purse.…

Craig’s Essay Analysis In Men’s Men and Women’s Women by Steve Crag, he argues about the purpose of using gendered images and portrayals in advertising. Advertisers look to target audience such as men and women who are at home watching daytime televisions on weekdays or those who are at home on the weekend watching sports. Prime time (evening) is a good time to reach women who are outside of home and also the men who fall in this category. These gendered programs and portrayals are constructed for the desires of the target audience to watch.…

Marketing to Men The Burger King “I Am Man” commercial uses gender to present the advertisement as anti-woman and strictly for men. The advertisement begins with a well dressed man in a fancy restaurant, eating a tiny meal with a beautiful woman. Like the narrator from Fight Club, the man here appears feminized, as he is surrounded by perfectly dressed individuals in an organized consumer space. Troubled by this, the man sings “I am man hear me roar…too hungry to settle for chick food”. From this moment, the advertisement is overtly structured for men.…

Gender Roles in commercials In our society there are predetermined gender roles that are set by the entertainment industry whether it is subliminal or not. In an interesting commercial for Old Spice they portray both genders in the advertisement and in it you can truly see how the advertisers like to represent the genders with gender stereotypes. It starts off with a woman getting ready to do laundry using Bounce laundry dryer bars, when seemingly out of nowhere famous actor Terry Crews breaks through the wall on a jet ski shirtless and in short shorts.…
