Hi John, I was also disturbed by the machine deciding who lived and who died. I understand birthrate quotas and caps for a society that has to contend with the aftermath of any disaster. Quotas and caps may cause morality and ethical issues (as we have witnessed in China), but the survival of a society should be put first. The destruction of the earth was definitely in that realm of thinking. The committee had to make the difficult decision to limit the birthrate to when a person died. The survival of the human race was contingent on being able to provide for that unit. It is interesting to me that the natural progression of a species has always been survival of the fittest. The machine did the opposite. Instead of allowing the fittest

On August 9th, 2014, Michael Brown and his friend Dorian Johnson were walking in the middle of the street when they were approached by a police officer by the name of Darren Wilson. With there being altered stories explaining what happened next rather than choosing one side of the story we can agree that an altercation occurred and it led to the unfortunate death of eighteen year old Michael Brown. Because of the differing stories and videos online, I will not focus on whether I feel like the killing of Michael Brown was justified, but whether the process to indict/or not to indict Officer Darren Wilson was justified and not flawed. Beginning as soon as you read the table of contents of the DOJ report on the Ferguson Police Department…

Energy independency has now become an international subject, spreading with radical pioneers who seek independence from the local power grid. Henk Rogers reiterates, through his campaign to run his house on solar electricity and amicable quest to ensure Hawaii's electrical independency by 2045, that energy independency is accomplished when an individual or even a community can successfully supply their own energy needs without assistance from the power grid. Through his tenacious aspiration to encourage residents to go off grid, Rogers has inspired countless residents to become energy independent. In doing so, he has prioritized it as his ‘number one’ objective, insistent to reduce carbon emission from combustible fuels. The key factor that lead him to partake of the clean energy movement was perturbing fact that Hawaii’s hallmark coral reefs are perishing in the increasingly acidic ocean.…

Winston Nesbitt states, “... Smith drowned his nephew for motives of personal gain” (103). Smith had the intention of killing his nephew in cold blood, while Jones did have the intention, but due to unfortunate events, he didn’t save his nephew because of the profits involved.…

Argumentative essay Samuel Newitt Wood is one of the founding fathers of the state of Kansas, and in particular Chase County, Kansas. Wood contributed a lot to the development of the territory, and eventually the state of Kansas. Wood does not have a memorial, and is not recognised as a prominent citizen of Kansas. He is deserving of a monumental plaque to commemorate his contributions to Kansas. Samuel Newitt Wood was a true hero who put Chase County on the map and not only spoke his beliefs of a free Kansas, the right for women to vote, anti-corruption, but truly lived his beliefs if even it it meant ridicule or loss of life.…

Summary John Arthurs has a unique stance on world hunger and moral obligation and the way that we should handle these issues. He opens up his argument by analyzing one of Pete Singers rules “If it is in our power to prevent something bad from happening, without thereby sacrificing anything of comparable moral importance, we ought, morally, to do it. “(666) Arthur believes that rule of life is a flawed one. However, one article presents itself better than the rest. I believe that the article “Soda’s a Problem, but...” was the most convincing article. Sarah Conly- the author who wrote “Three Cheers for the Nanny State”- argues that the soda restriction is a good idea because people would be stopped from making foolish decisions that they’ll pretty definitely regret.…
