Hi, I am Louis Giaquinto. I was born in Flagstaff, AZ, but I have grown up over the valley most of my life. My favorite movie of 2015 and one of my favorite independent films is Room (2015), directed by Lenny Abrahamson. Room is about a young woman and her son who were held captive for seven years, but then escaped and experienced the outside world. Most of the cast was unknown or they had been in supporting roles. The most notable actor was William H. Macy, but he was only in a few scenes. Brie Larson, who played the mother, acted in some smaller roles before Room, but this was her breakout role. She had accrued some film credence in her art movie Short Term 12 (2013), but gained considerable notice after Room. The flick was distributed by

At their core, the mere concept of musical films is utter genius; seamlessly combining cinema and song, two of the most formidable, emotionally stirring art forms, is a recipe with colossal creative potential. From the inception of musical film with the Alan Crosland directed 1927 motion picture “The Jazz Singer”, to modern box office triumphs such as 2016’s “La La Land”, and 2017’s “The Greatest Showman”, the genre has resonated phenomenally with its audience -- seldom fading out of fashion’s spotlight, consistently producing waves of extravagant displays of story, song, and dance. Regardless of the countless advantages they may hold, similarly to any other high profile genre of art, the musical’s fame and fortune has regrettably spawned numerous…

Both Shindler’s List and Maus tells the story of the Holocaust in a creative and visual way that helps the audience understand the significance of this historical event. Each of these representations takes a different approach in looking and remembering the Holocaust. As a reader, I found it quite intriguing that Maus grasped my attention and maintained it throughout the book with its relatable content. On the other hand, Shindler’s List also did a great job at drawing me into the context in its unique use of black and white and added pop of color.…

After reading Garry Berman’s book “We’re Going to See The Beatles!” and watching Steven Spielberg’s ‘spoof’ film, “I Wanna Hold Your Hand.” , these two sources aren’t really all that far apart. While both Berman’s novel and Spielberg’s film have some differences, the similarities really outweigh the differences in comparison. In Spielberg’s film, “I Wanna Hold Your Hand”, it’s shown that many girls found themselves so deep into the hold that Beatlemania had on them, many hardly realized what they were doing until it was happening.…

The main difference between the two stories is that the plotline of the the short story takes place over one, normal, day in presumably winter, as mitty has to take chains off of his cars wheels, while the movie takes place over many days and includes Mitty going to iceland, greenland, and afghanistan, not to mention that he skateboards for fifteen kilometers to get to the photographer. Another difference between the short story and the movie would be the characters. The movie gets rid of the wife and replaces her with a divorced single mother,…
