Hi Forrest Gump Decision Making

Hi Forrest,
I agree with the downside of conceptual decision making, which is wasting time while trying to make the right decision. In my post I talked about something similar to that about not focusing on what is currently going on. I feel like it would be best to focus on what is going on now and maybe focus on the future at the same time but make the present more important to figure out. This may able to eliminate wasted time during the

We had originally used a concept map in the actual event decision, but now we decided that we needed to outline all possible points in determining what we would buy in the end. We initially wanted to buy a new vehicle. There were a few brick walls in the way though. We had to see if we could get a loan, and if we could afford having another payment on top of all the others. After doing a debt to cost ratio, we decided that we could afford another loan.…

Dumbledore once said “It is our choices that show what we truly are far more than our abilities.” This quote shows that no matter how talented people are their decisions will reveal their characters. Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer showcases the significance of decisions in three ways. First, according to Mr. Krakauer, choices reveal a person’s true nature. Second, a simple decision at one point in time can determine an individual’s fate.…

The Honoring Your Wishes document was something that I never thought that I would do at this age, but I am actually glad that I did. I think that it was beneficial for me to think about as accidents do happen and I would like to have my previous decisions taken into consideration and hopefully followed. Talking to my family members, namely my parents, was the most difficult part of this assignment as no parent wants to think about their child getting hurt or dying. I knew before I even talked to them that it would be hard for them to discuss and think about the possibility of me needing this document in the future. After talking to them, I was relieved that I had set up my wishes in a legal document so that if something were to ever happen at this stage in my life, my parents would have my actual wishes and would not have to worry about doing what I wanted, it would already be laid out for them.…

Finally, cognitive continuum model of decision-making represents a spectrum in which intuition decisions are at one end, while information process is at other end (Aston et al, 2010). This theory suggests that the major determinant of whether practitioners use a rational or intuitive approach to decision-making are primarily determined on how decision-making task on a continuum positioned. The appropriate cognitive mode to use for the task depends on three factors: structure of the task, number of information cues and the available time to decide. If a task is poorly structured with a lot of information cues and with…

    Forrest Gump Film Analysis

Forrest Gump is a film that defies the conventions of filmmaking, and in that sense it is difficult to do a typical analysis of the film. It’s not so much that the film is overly complicated or that reality is always in question or any art house tricks of that kind; it’s just that Gump doesn’t really follow any rules. We begin with the most obvious: the plot. This is a film that should have redefined the biopic. It is completely about the life and times of Forrest, the protagonist, in fact through it all that’s the only thing it’s consistently about.…

As someone who is decisive it wasn’t as hard for me to choose which college I was going to attend. I was able to look at the options quickly and narrow down what I wanted and have a list of must haves, mostly pertaining to financial aid, and when a school met a majority of those qualifications it was easier to be decisive. Even though a majority of the decisions need a certain amount of information and facts to help the person decide, it doesn’t mean that they still aren’t decisive. They can be decisive and still be able to look rationally at all of the options (Adams, 2005). Being decisive now has lots of benefits when it comes to imagining out what I want for my life and how I am going to work to achieve it.…

The basis of decision-making can be understood by studying the cognitive heuristics that accompany mental processing, thought, and ability to assess a situation. However, how can we examine the effects of decision-making when we skip the analyzing process – rather, how can we judge the effectiveness of following our gut in quick decisions? “Heuristics is the unconscious, or quick decisions that humans make due to integrated social norms, or mental short-cuts” (Pearl, Judea, 1983, p. 48). The use of heuristics in decision-making is often regarded as the foolish or quick decisions caused by the lack of full analysis before action. While there is an undeniable need for mental processing in any decision, psychologists question the accuracy of our…
