Hi Arnoldo: My Description Of Heaven

Hi Arnoldo, the description of Heaven that John describes is a remarkable foretaste of what Christ promised believers at the day of resurrection. I believe that John’s view is an example of the old passing away and the creation of the new heaven and new earth, together, making up the new universe. The old way symbolizes the fall of man in the Garden of Eden and the new represents our new creation in Christ. In your thread, you described believers being restored into good health and good physical standards. My description of the resurrected body is somewhat different. Scripture details our resurrected body as being an imperishable, glorified, powerful spiritual body. Paul says, “The first man was of the dust of the earth, the second man from

Every Christian has wondered at some point in time what Heaven will be like. A lot of people in the World just view Heaven as a spiritual place where you meet God. Richard Mouw believes Heaven will be a renewed creation that includes an embodied existence and cultural life. In the book “When the Kings Come Marching In” Mouw talks about how society has to transform and change our ideas of how we view things in order to prepare for the Holy City. In doing so we will be ready for Heaven to come.…

A photograph is a reflection, it makes us confront a part of someone's reality and when done successfully, it makes us confront our reality as an audience. In Douglas Sirk’s All That Heaven Allows and Todd Haynes’s Far From Heaven, this idea of framing a certain reality is also expressed with their use of mirrors and other reflective surfaces to display a specific point of view. During the cocktail party scene at the Whitaker’s house, Frank Whitaker, in referring to how lucky he is to have such a beautiful wife, says, “It's all smoke and mirrors, fellas. That's all it is.”…

wrote the second position in “Four Views on Hell” about terminal judgement. In the chapter John talks about how he believes in terminal judgement, which he defines as “the view that hell is the situation in which those who do not avail themselves of the atonement made by Jesus in his suffering and death must make their own atonement by suffering and then death, separated from the sustaining life of God and thus disappearing from the Cosmos” (Stackhouse Jr. 61). Stackhouse claims that terminal punishment is the view of hell most warranted by scripture. In the chapter it states that Christians view hell as eternal, but what does the bible mean by eternal. “In the old testament there are ordinances, rituals, and institutions described as eternal, but they clearly do not last forever” (Stackhouse Jr.…

Here, John the Baptist sets out to prove the supremacy of Jesus to his followers, and to show how vastly superior Christ is to himself. John bases these claims on a few key points, so let’s break them down. First, John tells us that Jesus is superior because he has come “from above,” “from heaven.”…

Jesus demonstrated that the saints in heaven are not limited; when he explain that, they are free to do whatever they want. Besides, they are always in his presence (rejoicing and praising) God. Nonetheless, he also demonstrated that he is the God of the living. Moreover, our hope for life. Furthermore, those that are dead from the earthly prospective, are still alive in him.…

It would seem unimaginable that in time God would resurrect all persons who have passed to their original bodily form. That those who were cremated and their ashes spread in the ocean or on earth would be restored by God’s will. Like most people, I’ve experienced loss of a loved one, my mother who was cremated and her ashes spread in Rocky Mountain National Park, her request while living. Linda Badham’s realistic approach of resurrection and the problems associated with life after death brought about a sense of fear and dread within me. Linda Badham brings to light, how unlikely is it that our various atoms would come together to reconstruct our original human form (Peterson, et al., Philosophy of Religion, p.507)?…

When a human being dies, this process happens again, but in reverse. When life is loss, or the breath of life is loss, the soul ceases to exist. “The dust returns to the ground it came from and the spirit returns to God who gave it,” is what the bible says in Ecclesiastes 12:7, NIV (as quoted by Bibleinfo.com). Many believe that when a person dies, they will go directly to Heaven, or to Hell, but some arguments state the Bible says that you will not go to Heaven or to Hell until Judgement Day. On Judgement Day God will come down to collect his creations and judge them, telling them where to go; either to Heaven or to Hell.…

During Jesus’ time on this earth, He used the claim “I AM” to describe himself throughout all His teachings. The Gospel of John shows at least eight different times Jesus says this. Seven of these claims were accompanied by signs to back up His words.…
