With our society on the fast track with technology in this twenty – first century, it is only fitting that we have incorporated heutagogy learning in higher education. Knowles pedagogy theory is designed to teach kids and young adults in a formal educational setting. Andragogy theory is generally used in adult learning. This theory identifies adults as being more self-directed with little supervision from an instructor or facilitator. Furthermore the advantage of andragogy concept is for adults to transform from being dependent student into self-directed learner. As adults, we are prepared to learn, drawing from our experiences and relating it to our educational experiences and not taking anything for granted.

Students have to be self-sufficient and competent. This paper has articulate three affective teaching methods (role-playing, demonstration, and dialogue) in adult education. Even through these teaching methods have some disadvantages; however they are all very effective learning tools that foster adult learning process.
Knowledge is acquired either by our experiences or through education. Suggested by Hase, S., & Kenyon, C. (2000, pg. 4-5). “It is not that heutagogy is a departure from andragogy but, rather an extension that incorporates self-directed learning. The notion that pedagogical approaches to learning were perhaps inappropriate for adults was an important leap forward.” Hase, S., & Kenyon, C. (2000, pg. 5) continues “Heutagogy takes account of intuition and concepts such as ‘double loop learning’ that are not linear and not necessarily planned.” Learning should come naturally, if we perceive learning as a potential we will always be hungry for more and always have room for improvement.
