According to Andy Holten, a Holocaust survivor who was used to live in Poland, after his parent and grandparents were arrested in December 1943, his father was selected to work in labor camp while the rest of his family members were sent straight to poison gas chambers. He was given a false name so that he was able to escape from the searching of Nazis. I think he was lucky, and he did not lived in Ghettos before so that he would never know how terrible the Ghettos were.
