Hetalia Stereotypes

OVERVIEW:
--------------
Hetalia is a comedy anime created by Hidekaz Himaruya. It consists of countries personified into humans (and yes, they're all stereotypes and yes they're anazing) during WW2. It follows the countries Italy, Germany, Japan, America, UK, China, Russia, France, and a ton of other countries. It also has unique and catchy songs. Each episode is 5 minutes of interchanging skits that are hilarious and sometimes serious about the real world.
What's even better is the manga has just recently reached a high spot on the most popular manga. Despite the show and manga's immense popularity, the creator has time to talk with fans and see popular fan requests. An example of this was the Genderbend episode. Hetalia is a combination of Hetarae (meaning useless, etc.) and Italia (Italy in Italian and Japanese [and probably a ton of other languages])

Acceptance and Denial of Labels Society has naturalized the practice of designating and enforcing stereotypical ideals and behaviors upon groups of all ages. It transpires to limit and regulate gender fluctuation through the use of harassment or humility. With these stereotypical ideals comes a barrier in which participants in today’s society can no longer express themselves as they see fit. Those who go above and beyond the social guidelines are left in ridicule as people mock, label, and bully these individuals into conforming alongside what is considered “normal”. The novel Middlesex, written by Jeffrey Eugenides challenges and portrays acceptance towards a label friendly society within the context of queer theory through characters…

During my final year attending high school, it became evident that several of my peers had no intent of leaving our community or widening their horizons. I grew up with a majority of my classmates, and it’s probable that after being in the same district for twelve years, the community became a bubble for them; a safe haven. My peers developed comfort and became satisfied with their place in the world. Most of the youth in this community struggle to leave their comfort zone and are not grasping how beneficial a higher education is. This community is settling, staying within its margins, and is not experiencing the real world and all the possibilities it has to offer.…

Unlike number ten from All Diva Media’s ‘Top 10 Feminist Stereotypes’, I am not a man hater – in fact, I was the only girl allowed to play with the boys as I was related to their ‘leader’. When I was little, my cousin, who was a grade older than me, was sort of like the leader of the few boys we had our split class. I never realized that I was being treated differently from all the other girls in my class. My classmates seemed to simply accepted the fact that I was the only girl allowed to play with the boys – and it did not occur to me that I was the only one given that I played with the girls as well. However, one year (I think it was grade three) a new girl came to our class…

Stereotype and prejudice has been the focal point of empirical research in the field of social psychology. Specifically, the effect of racial stereotypes on human behavior has received tremendous amount of scrutiny. Numerous studies had identified the influence of racial stereotypes on human behavior (Dion, Kawakami and Dovidio, 1998; Amodio, Hamilton, 2012). Dion, Kawakami and Dovidio (1998) revealed that people who were highly prejudiced had faster response times to black stereotypic words than white words following their exposure to black stereotypic cues (Dion et al, 1998). Amodio and Hamilton (2012) found that participants had higher accuracy in identifying words with negative connotations when they were primed with black faces as opposed…
