Hestia
Hestia, the goddess of hearth and home, also known as the forgotten goddess because you will not find her in many stories, but she is nevertheless an important figure in mythology. Hestia and I have a lot in common because of her kind nature and love for her family.
Kronos and Rhea, the parents of Hestia, are quite opposites. Rhea, her gentle and sweet mother, loves her children and wants to protect them. Kronos, her powerful father, loves power and control. Kronos swallows the children because he was told that one of them would overthrow him like he did his father. Rhea tricks him into swallowing a rock, instead of Zeus, the youngest child. Rhea hides Zeus and protects him until he is older. Rhea reminds me of my mother. As the youngest

She doesn’t want any children and plans to stay unmarried all her life. Poseidon and Apollo proposed marriage to her, but she rejected them. She took a vow to remain a virgin forever. I enjoy being an aunt to my niece and nephew even though they drive me up a wall sometimes. Donte, my 4-year old nephew, always has so much energy. He hops around all day and pounces on me when I am trying to relax because he wants to play. He only sits still when he watches cartoons. Emeri, my 18-month old niece, cries all the time. She cries very loudly.I cannot believe such a massive voice comes from a tiny baby. Emeri does not know how to pronounce my name, so she calls me mommy. I try to get her to say my name, but it usually doesn’t work. Unlike Hestia, I want to get married someday and eventually have children of my own.
Different from all the other gods and goddesses, Hestia did not get involved in fights. I try to avoid conflict at all times. During grade school, students often fought in the halls. As people crowded around to watch the fight, I would continue to walk to my classroom. I do not like drama, so I try to be kind to everyone and stay out of people’s way. Although I am kind, some people still do not like me. Many people get the perception that I am mean or stuck up because I do not smile or talk much. I continue to be nice to those who do not like me

However, the anguish in Telemakhus’ heart is soon addressed by the goddess Athena, who comes in the form of a weary traveler to assure Telemakhus that Oddyseus is not dead. Kronos swallowed as each came forth from the womb to his mother's knees with this intent, that no other of the proud sons of Ouranos (Uranus, Heaven) should hold the kingly office amongst the deathless gods. For he learned from Gaia (Gaea, Earth) and starry Ouranos (Sky) that he was destined to be overcome by his own son, strong though he was, through the contriving of great Zeus. Therefore he kept no blind outlook, but watched and swallowed down his children : and unceasing grief seized Rhea. But when she was about to bear Zeus, the father of gods and men, then she besought her own dear parents, Gaia (Earth) and starry Ouranos (Sky), to devise some plan with her that the birth of her dear child might be concealed, and that retribution might overtake great, crafty Kronos for his own father and also for the children whom he had swallowed down. And they readily heard and obeyed their dear daughter, and told her all that was destined to happen touching Kronos the king and his stout-hearted son.…
