Herzl Camp Experience

Through high school I have been working on the cleaning staff at Herzl Camp in Webster. I got my job there due to my connections and family. I’ve been working at Herzl for three years. I like working at Herzl because of the good pay and new things to do every day. Herzl is a camp for people of Jewish descent. The campers there pay tons of money to be able to stay in the middle of nowhere from June through August. At the camp the campers learn about their descent and how to care for each other. My connections at Herzl are family friends Dale and Dana Polaski. My family has known Dale for years. He dated my aunt for a little bit and continued to be friends with the family after they separated. I was able to be hired after I filled out my application and after Dale and Dana talked to my sister Paige to make sure I was a hard worker like her. …show more content…
My shift starts at 6:30 a.m. As soon as everyone gets to work we get on the golf cart and go to clean the shower houses. At the shower houses we never know what we’re going to find. One day we had to clean cinnamon rolls out of the stalls and shampoo off the mirrors and floors. Definitely worth the $9 and hour. Everyday bring a new thing to do at Herzl. I guess those campers know how to have fun. After three years I still like working there and hope to continue to work there though my future schooling when I’m home for the

Here I am today singing songs about the south-land;because I miss 'ole' 'bamy once again. Years ago I left my home state of Alabama, where the skies are so blue and I moved to the not so great state of Montana. Many people questioned me on why I moved to Montana, and my response back is because in that moment I felt like I needed a change, but in the end I think I made the wrong choice to move away from Alabama. But soon I will be back to sweet home Alabama,oh,Lord, I'm coming home to you. Back in early March of 1974,I was working at a local convenience store.…

I am helping out at the Jacob Hiatt Magnet School in a 4th grade class. Every week for 2 hours I am able to help students with their classroom activities. At the beginning, I use to just go around in class and help the students when they need help. Now, the teacher has me take the one or two students who are struggling and sit outside with them to help them catch up. This helps them to be able to be on the same page as everyone else and it makes it easier for the teacher as well because it gets really hard for one teacher to be able to keep everyone at the same page and finish the course material on time.…

I would like to continue about what happened within the camp for more detail. Yes it is me, reporter Simone, but I was too ashamed not to continue in depth. Our ride from the safe house led us to a concentration camp in Poland. When we showed up there were Jews from all over Europe. As I walked in a sign read “Arbeit Macht Frei” which translates to “Work will set you free”. This was odd and cruel considering that No matter how much we work we will never be set free, that is unless you count dying being set free from life.…

My interest in healthcare began in 1994 when began a two-year certificate program in Health Information Management at Central Texas College. The education that I received provided me an introduction into health service delivery and gave me an opportunity to work for a small psychiatric practice as a transcriptionist. Thanks the Texas Exes alumni, I was able to go to Camp Texas for free this year. At first I thought that it was like any normal 3- day camping trip, which made me extremely excited since I enjoy camping very much. Once I got there, I realized that it was a different type of camp. I was nervous and scared because I’m not very good at socializing. The reason I’m writing this is because I learned so much about being open minded, accepting, and kind to other people and new experiences.…
