Herzberg’s two factor theory is a motivation-maintenance approach which developed by Frederick Herzberg. The two factors in this theory a content theory of motivation, which contains two categories, hygiene factors and motivation factors. The two factor influence the feeling of employees that become the reason why they had positive or negative at work. (Whatishumanresource.com, 2016)
Hygiene factors are the factors which influence the level of dissatisfaction. This will have included company policies, quality of supervision, relations with others, personal life, salary, job security, working conditions, etc.
Motivation factors are the factors which influence level of satisfaction. This will have included achievement, career advancement, personal growth, job interest, recognition, responsibility, etc.
The use of Herzberg’s two factor theory in work redesign will helps the company to improve the productivity and the quality of the work experience of employees.
