Can you imagine seeing children being forced labor? There are many sources and books writing about slavery in cocoa farms in the Ivory Coast. These non-fiction books and sources trying to prove millions of people that it's wrong for letting children doing labor. Also, childrens are growing up forced child labor without knowing themselves how chocolate taste like or what's coco is used for. Childrens were tricked or sold into slavery. Do you really believe Hershey company are getting coco from slavery farms? Slavery in the cocoa industry is cruel. These children are suffering everyday in their life. These cocoa farms don't understand that it's pointless to have slave labor or child labor because it's a negative effect on child labor or non child labor its seems like there will never have freedom or peace in their own country.Hershey Company do get coca from poor ivory coast farms. Also, 10.1 million farmers who grow cocoa are in Africa. Hershey need cocoa beans order to make chocolate and Hershey company is the biggest and famous chocolate company, so they need large amounts of cocoa. " Hershey, which is the largest chocolate manufacturer in the world, gets most of its cocoa from West Africa. The company purchases the primary ingredient in its products from sources notorious for abusive labor practices including forced labor, human trafficking, and child slavery"(Robbins John). Textual evidence proven "Cocoa beans come from pods on the cacao tree. To get the 400 or so beans it takes to make a pound of chocolate, boys cut 10 pods from the trees, slice them open, scoop out the beans, spread them in baskets or on mats, and cover them to ferment. Then they uncover the beans, put them in the sun to dry, bag them and load them onto trucks to begin the journey to the United States or Europe" (McClatchy Article). Cocoa is a hard working job that needs many steps for one cocoa to be cracked and dry the beans so, imagining doing this every single day and working throughout the day. The sales are way high more than any company sale this not great that means slave labor and child labor working hard enough that they could almost die. It's cruel, chocolate taking cocoa from
