Have someone ever fight so hard to accomplish a dream or find a hidden treasure that could change your whole life. And you almost lost everything you had to get it and then realized that you already had the treasure near you, but you just didn’t notice . Well in the novel “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho , Santiago the main character portrays the common hero and his journey to complete his date with destiny he lost many thing, crossed continents just to realize he had the treasure in his hometown.
First at the beginning of the book Santiago was a basic shepard he slept in abandoned places waiting for the call of adventure until he meets a fortune teller that talks to him about achieving …show more content…
There you would find a hidden treasure that will make you rich”. This quote explains and supports how Santiago passed from being a shepherd with basically with no goals in life to someone how now has a goal and wants to achieve his personal legend. He was starting the cycle of the hero’s journey. Next Santiago faces a big challenge and suffers a lost that made him kind of lose his faith on achieving his personal legend and make him think of the possibility to go back to Andalusia. He trusted a boy who speak spanish to him, Santiago gave the boy all his money to help him go to the pyramids and the boy took the money and never came back. But also thanks to this he meet a Crystal merchant who gave Santiago a job. It was like if the soul of the world did not want Santiago to abandon his quest to achieve his personal legend in page 40 Coelho wrote. “ His heart squeezed , as is his chest had suddenly compressed he was afraid to look around for his new friend because ke knew what the would …show more content…
In the way to the pyramids the alchemist showed Santiago many things one of them being the language of the soul of the world and help him to believe in himself and this help santiago turn himself into wind with the help of the sun, the wind, and the soul of god.( page 157)” When the simum ceased to blow everyone looked for the place where the boy had been but he was not longer there he was standing next to a sand covered sentinel on the far side of the camp” . After this they went separate ways Santiago continued his journey to meet with destiny and to find his hidden treasure, when Santiago arrived to the pyramids he was digging for the treasure but he did not find anything after a while some delinquents came and beat him up they stole his gold that the alchemist gave to him. He told one of the thieves about his dream of finding a treasure on the pyramids and the thieve told him. (Page 157) “ I had a dream once that I should travel to the fields of spain and look for shepherds and their sheeps slept their I would find a hidden treasure then they left… The pyramids seen to laugh at him and he laughed back, his heart bursting with joy, because he knew where his treasure was”. Finally Santiago Finish his trip and meet with the destiny just to learn that
