Peers play a vital role in the High School social status system in Mean Girls. Just like the students in the film, young people tend to form peer subcultures that are almost entirely centered on their own interests. For instance, the “Plastics” are a group that feeds on others peoples problems and insecurities. Cady unknowingly starts to become spiteful and superficial, and abandons Janis and Damian after being exposed the the “Plastics”. Moreover, she learned this type of behavior learned from her peers and it ended up effecting her in a negative way.…

In the 1900s, women had a disadvantage in societies. Women wanted a public voice and the right to do things and own things on their own. In the 1941 film, Little Foxes, Lillian Hellman addresses how the women in the 1900s behaved, how they were treated, and how they tried to obtain power. These evidence of feminism are not seen only through the characters, but through the films lighting, camera angles, and more.…

It all began when Cady’s mom accepted a professorship at Northwestern University. For Cady, it meant that she was leaving Africa to move to the suburbs of Illinois. Also, she was no longer going to be homeschooled; instead she was going to attend Evanston High School. On the first day of school, she was stressed because in each of her classes she was getting in trouble for the oddest reasons. For example, when her science professor did not allowed her to use the restroom and she felt as if he did not trust her.…

When someone blurts out the word “high school”, what’s your first initial thought? I don’t know about you, but “cliques” are the first thought to my mind. The media is drowning in films that portray the idea of “cliques”, but personally, I believe the film Mean Girls is the best representation of the world of cliques. Means Girls is a teen classic, and I can almost bet the majority of my generation has seen or at least heard of it. It is American teen comedy film that manifests the harsh conditions teens undergo when it comes to high school cliques.…

Emma, a novel written by Jane Austen, and Amy Heckerling 's high school drama, Clueless, are very comparable and alike, even though they were created at very different times. Emma was created in 1816 and has a lot old fashioned issues relating to that time, and Clueless, created in 1995, has the same issues only modernized. The movie Clueless has many similar conflicts and ideas like the novel, Emma, for instance, character similarities, attempted matchmaking between the characters, character development and relationships, and as well as some differences. Throughout Clueless , it was simple to detect the similarities between the characters of those in the novel Emma.…

    1. The movie Mean Girls has its own unique high school culture and within that culture there are many social communities. People tend to divide into their own groups with others who share similar ideas and values and this was also true in my high school, but my high school differed by being more open and accepting different groups similar to the ending of the movie. Also, social communities also have their own rules for example the plastics wear pink on Wednesdays and this stays the same to this day. People are guided by rules to fit in whether its what they wear, do, say, or act.…
