Heros In The Odyssey

In the three books The Odyssey, The Iliad, and The Aeneid, the heros are strong either mentally and/or physically. They are all good fighters and not afraid of death. Also in all of the stories the gods help the heros.

In the Iliad, the hero is very strong physically. He is a good fighter and wants nothing more than to kill people and win. He is also he is merciless. “ Then Tros, Alastor’s son, fell at achilles knees, clutching them, begging him to spare his life, to capture him alive, instead of killing him, moved by pity for a man the same age as himself. What a fool! He did not know there was no way to change Achilles mind-he was full of fighting rage” The book also states a few times that he is godlike and he is friends with the gods “Achilles, friend of Zeus, …”. Also he is constantly fighting and killing people, showing that he is not afraid of death. …show more content…
This is shown when he says “ I snatched myself, I confess, from death; I burst my bonds, and lurked all night in muddy mere, hidden in the sedge, until they should set sail, in case they would” He is also willing to die for victory. “ Let us die, and rush into battles midst!” In the Odyssey the character very strong mentally and physically. He is clever and always finds a way to get out of trouble. In many circumstances he calls on the gods to help him. The gods respect him and almost act as though he is a god. “ My host- may Zeus and the other Gods give you your heart’s desire…”
This shows that all of the heros have similar traits. They all have some relationship with the gods. They all have physical strengths, and mental
