What are the qualities or characteristics of heroes? When I think of the word hero, I think of the extraordinary people who have superpowers and they always stand up and do good things. Heroes are someone who fights for justice and give hope to others who is selfless and willing to protect fellowmen from danger. The role models of society or inspiration to hopeless people. The age’s cultures have produced various kinds of heroes who represent the different characteristics and them also as a reflection of culture and social. The patterns of the classical heroes typically follow a traditional pattern in mythology. The characteristics of Greek heroes were born in royalty. There is also another factor in the modern concept of heroes arrives from medieval concept of the Knight of King Arthur. However, there is a little difference. Unlike classical or medieval heroes, modern heroes have less religious background. Many models of people behavior depend on the basis of cultural heroes. The first superhero was born for encouraging patriotism, Superman. He was a great impact in America society and he was a perfect character of American heroes. Superman has abilities to command and inspire other with his charisma. He treated everyone equal and fight for justice. Superman was inspired by Hercules, the famous Greek hero. They both are strong and were raised by humans although Superman is an alien but Hercules is a demigod. The first appearance of Superman was debuted in comic strip. We accustomed his image with colorful costume and the famous Superman logo on his chest. His only weakness is kryptonite, radioactive meteorites from his planet that make him weak and poison him. In normal times, he was a reporter for the Daily Planet meanwhile he was a Superman who use his superhuman powers to keep people and the world safe from Lax Luther, the super villain. Another hero, Captain America was created during the Second World War. He was an icon of patriotism. In that time, America entered the Second World War and they wanted someone who has the image of hero to encourage soldiers to fight the Nazis. He was very popular during the wartime period. His costume based on the American flag and he always appears with his shield. Captain America has no superpower but he gained superpower by participating in Super soldier experiment. The U.S government uses him as a hero to fight against the Nazis. He becomes the symbol of liberty, freedom and
