Hinton, was more concerned about his friends’ well being rather than his own. Joby was crying that night and the general started to tell him that the army needed him to move or march. Everyday heros don’t metaphorically cower in their shells or run like a scared little girl. “I felt assured that, if I failed in this attempt, my case would be a hopeless one—it would seal my fate as a slave forever...But I remained firm”(Douglas 92). In Frederick Douglass's autobiography, published in 1845, he explained how he only had this one chance and if he failed he would for sure be severely punished. Furthermore, In the video Labor of Love, Dick Hoyt said that he couldn’t swim and when he jumped into the lake he couldn’t swim ten feet.
