Heroism is not all about gaining glory as illustrated in the media. Heroism can be as personal as fighting one’s own struggle to defeat a disease, battling through the symptoms, and seeking treatment. By developing heroism as a universal attribute of human nature, and not as a feature of a few select people, heroism becomes something that seems in the range of possibilities for every person. For example, Sgt. James Yates was scheduled to be honored at an Iowa Barnstormers football game, but instead he came to the rescue of a nearby woman that was trapped under her car due to a collision (Huffington Post). The performance of heroic acts is not only beneficial to the person whom the act was performed for, but it is also significant to the "heroes"
