“A hero is someone who, in spite of weakness, doubt or not always knowing the answers, goes ahead and overcomes anyway” (Christopher Reeve). This quote exemplifies that even through trouble, heroes overcomes the challenges just like the actor who said this quote, Christopher Reeve. Christopher Reeve was one of the first people to appear in a motion picture as a world wide known hero, Superman. Even though he portrayed a mighty superhero with outstanding superpowers, soon after he was changed from being a superhero to being a quadriplegic. This shows that he has gone through tough times and he has overcome them. He show that goes ahead of challenges despite of troubling times. Perseverance is very important because giving up can miss out on an opportunity to help someone else. Ahero does not give up because for example, if a person was a firefighter and someone was trapped in a building and they could not get in the door, the firefighter would not give up because they did, that person could die. In the story “An Everyday Hero” the author exclaims,”She fights this lethal disease every moment of every day, and she does it with a smile” (Ana’s Children 49). Even though she has a very deadly disease, she still fights through it just like a hero does. Since she perseveres through her pain, I betters the world and makes her a hero by being a role model for all other cancer patients who need motivation. In addition, Gale Fiege, tells the reader,”He has run a marathon”(Fiege 67). The title of this story is “Soldier home after losing his leg in Afghanistan” which means he ran a marathon (26 miles) with only one leg. This shows how determined he was to persevere through his disability and prove to everyone that he can do everything everybody else
