What would you call a person who did something out of the extraordinary? You might call them a hero, but they are not always doing these things. When heroes try to save someone or something, they do it with a sense of courage. Even though it is a tough decision, they will have to choose what is right for them and for the people. Heroes also do not run away from the situation. Instead, they fight for it. It may be tough, but heroes do not give up. Heroism is showing selflessness when they sacrifice for what they care about, but they do not run away from it. Heroism has the Idea of showing selflessness when standing up. Some ordinary people do not care about others because they do not want to be included in danger, gut heroes do care about others. Frederick Douglass, a former slave, “...while attending an anti-slavery convention at Nantucket, on the 11th of August, 1841, [he] felt strongly moved to speak”(SB p.72) Douglass felt free when he spoke and he also spoke for others about their thoughts on slavery. In some cases, the problems can change people’s lives and their decisions. In a result, no one has the courage to speak up, but Malala stood up. Sacrificing can be a challenging stage, but heroes often have to. In “O Captain, My Captain”, a poem about Abraham Lincoln sacrificing his life, the “ship is anchored safe and sound, its voyage closed and done”(SB p.69). Abraham Lincoln sacrificed himself in order to lead America to safety. Lincoln did not just set America to saftey, but is still guiding us to what is right. In the text, Sermon, it states that “he is dead... [but] he can guide and strengthen his successor”(SB p.70). In other words, the author believes that Lincoln sacrificed himself to keep helping our nation. Sacrificing is a tough action to do, but it is the best way to help other
