Thought Paper #2 Heroin is an opioid pain killer. It is made from morphine, a substance that is found in the seedpod of a poppy plant. Heroin can be mixed with water and injected with a needle, smoked, or snorted up the nose. All of these ways of taking heroin send it to the brain very quickly. This is what makes it very addictive. This drug has caused many overdoses but according to U.S. city mayor we have found the solution. I believe that opening a heroin clinic would be a good idea as long as there is a nurse by that persons side at all times. I think by opening these clinics that number of overdoses should go down and the number of people using as well. In the clinic they should be trying to help the people quit using instead of letting their dose get higher every time. I agree that some people over dose and die …show more content…
That way the aggressive person can be calmed down and there is no crime outside of the clinic. I think there should be beds and doctors in case a person has an overdose and needs to stay in the clinic to get checked out. My only question would be “Will the heroin be free for everyone and anyone?” “Will there be more cops around the city making sure there is no crime being committed by the heroin users?” On the contrary opening up these clinics I believe would impact the public perception of heroin use. I think this could be dangerous for children and teenagers. If we do open up clinics we would have to advertise them and children might see it on T.V. or hear it on the radio and think that it is okay to use heroin. I think parents would be more paranoid knowing that there are people on the street using heroin with no problem. Even now with marijuana clinics being open around schools parents have tried to shut them down and have been successful. I think it would be the same situation with the heroin
