Heroin Persuasive Speech

In 2011, 4.2 million Americans aged 12 years or older have tried heroin. Out of that 4.2 million about 23% became dependent. Heroin can leave users with a sense of euphoria, making them to feel relaxed and drowsy. Users heart and breathing slows down. This slowing in breath is an indication of lung function slowing down, which in turn can lead to an overdose that kills people. About 15% of users whom suffer overdoses have died due to fluid filling up in their lungs. Bacteria that is often found within heroin is notorious for attacking heart tissue, resulting in heart tissue death and leading to infections. To avoid these risks and most importantly death, don’t be afraid to say no when a drug such as heroin is offered to you. Sometimes your fear for rejection will persuade you to do things you normally wouldn’t do, if you are pressured to do something you’re not comfortable doing you have a right to say no and not obligated to voice your reasons why. …show more content…
If you surround yourself by people whom you connect with it would be easier to conform to their positive actions instead of conforming to negative actions. You can educate yourself on the dangers of heroin and other drugs that are commonly used. Don’t rely on misconceptions told by the media, public figures, or your friends. Visit websites that are legitimate health/drug websites and educate yourself on the horror of heroin addiction (among other drugs as well). Once you’ve absorbed all that information relay it onto your family and peers. Spread the word! And help end heroin
