In 2013 almost 600,000 deaths were due to the use of on heroin in the United States and statistics like these just keep getting worse. The United States has recently taking steps with call heroin houses or supervised injection facilities. Supervised injection facilities are where illegal drugs can be used under the supervision of trained staff. Heroin houses have been a very controversial topic recently in the United States. The United States compared to other countries are behind on this issue. A lot of other countries started supervised injection facilities before the United States and are now more advanced with their facilities. The United States questions the integrity of heroin house. Some people in the United States think it's a great idea, others do not. The controversy is hold the U.S. back from catching up with other counties supervised injection facilities. Heroin houses seem to be making our country safer.

A Boston nonprofit has the intent to face the city's increased intake of heroin through heroin houses under the medical supervision Dr. Jessie Gaeta. Gaeta is a chief medical officer at the Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program. Gaeta says on the way to work “There are people — just in the few blocks around our building and hospital — that we're watching overdose on our way from the parking lot," As we know, there are at least eight countries around the world have some sort of supervised injection facilities. Massachusetts just came out with some statistics that about four residents every day die from some sort of drug overdose. Statistics like these are part of the reason why these heroin houses were created in boston.
