People can be addicted to many things such as alcohol, music, gaming and drugs. heroin is a one of the most commonly used drug that people have been addicted to these days. It has become a serious problem in our society. Drug addiction is a disease which has ruined many lives and caused many deaths nationwide. In fact, in 2011, more than 4 million Americans aged 12 or older had used heroin at least once in their live. In America, use of heroin is increasing immensely among our society. Addiction to a drug such as heroin has negatively impacted our society and It most be taught to avoid its continuation.

Heroin is known as “H” and comes from a “substance extracted from the seedpod of the Asian poppy plant” (National Institute on Drug Abuse). Heroin is usually used by “injection, smoked, and snorted” (National Institute on Drug Abuse). Right after the use of heroin the user experiences “pleasurable feelings and are relieved from pain, discomfort and emotional depression” (National Institute on Drug Abuse). The study shows that used of heroin is increasing extremely fast in the united state. In the last 5 years, more than 400 thousand people were addicted to heroin. In Doctor Volkow research, “with an estimated 2.1 million people in the United States suffering from substance use disorders related to prescription opioid pain relievers in 2012 and an estimated 467,000 addicted to heroin” (Volkow, page 1).
