A leader on the other hand is someone who is able to make people follow them for a cause or the greater good. Patton. Chesley Sullenberger is a hero because he landed flight 1549 on the Hudson River saving all one hundred fifty passengers on board the plane. Doing this action makes him a hero because in a moment of crisis without even thinking of himself, he saved the lives of one hundred fifty people by successfully crash landing the aircraft. This is different than George S. Patton who was able to lead his men without food, water, or any sleep on a 48 hour march to the town of Bastogne to relief allies that were trapped there. This makes General Patton a leader because after this treacherous journey that he led his men on he was able to make them fight and win. Through General Patton’s great leadership skills he was able to stop the German attack and stop them from advancing. The similarity between Chesley Sullenberger and George S. Patton is that they both were able to prevent loss of life but they methods in which they did this were different. Chesley Sullenberger was able to prevent loss of life by a direct action of crash landing the plane in the safest way possible. George S. Patton was able to prevent loss of life by being a leader and leading his men on an incredible march and making them
