But Julius has a whole depressed and broken community depending on him to distract them from the pain that they feel. Odysseus fighting childish battles with mythical monsters and Julius is dealing with real life pain and suffering of the Native American Community. For example in the chapter “The Only Traffic Signal on the Reservation Doesn’t Flash Red” the community fills the bleachers with hope and praise for Julius and he carries the huge responsibility to distract them and give them hope on his shoulders. But just like odysseus being filled with pride about the cyclops he was said to walk off the court when the competition isn't challenging enough. When he does walks of the court it is another example of when his pride gets the best of him because by walking out of the game he gave up the opportunity to win. Just like how in line 365 Odysseus reveals his name which ends up hurting him and he's giving up the opportunity to escape the island
