Kamryn Barnett 12/15/16 period 7 Angelina Jolie I believe that Angelina Jolie is a hero because of her heroic traits. Although she has many heroic traits the two that stand out to me is her kindness and generosity. Angelina grew up as a happy kid. Since she was always so happy as a kid then she was always positive and…
William Bryan Jennings When asked today about William Jennings Bryan, several people would probably remember him as a die-hard Presbyterian that went against a substitute teacher for violating the law of teaching of evolution in schools, as a consequence today people don't realize how William Bryan "did more than any other man" by transforming the Democratic "party from a bulwark of laissez-faire into the citadel of liberalism" by using related religious principles as a foundation for his actions that caused millions of people to chant his of being their godly hero (xix). With the writing of “A Godly Hero", Michael Kazin makes an attempt to change the perception of a deranged man into one of a godly hero. Because of how Michael Kazin wrote…

Joseph Campbell studied ancient greek mythology. After studying, the American Mythologist, Writer, and Lecturer, discovered that heroes in almost every story follow this same path called the Heroic Journey. He figured this out by seeing that all the heroes go through stages. For example, they refuse, they have tests/allies/enemies, and they are rewarded at the end of their journey. Everybody is a hero in their own story if you think about it.…

Journal #3 A hero, is “a person noted for courageous acts or nobility of character”. In Michael Apted's film Amazing Grace, this definition is substantially indicated through major characters in the film in showing their courageous acts towards ending slavery. The history of slavery started in 1916 with a Dutch ship that brought 20 African slaves ashore to the British colony of Jamestown,Virginia. In the 18th century, an estimated 6-7 million black slaves were imported to the new world, where male slaves mainly worked on tobacco, rice, and indigo plantations and women used for sexual exploitation. Modern slavery is just an umbrella term that encompasses sexual exploitation, labour exploitation, domestic servitude, forced marriage, forced…
The Anglo-Saxon poem Judith, reveals to the reader a different kind of hero. One that uses her femininity as a weapon, to seduce Holofernes the Assyrian ruler and at the same time by cutting his head off and killing him, Judith uses a mannish side to defend her people and stop the enemies’ invasion. Judith’s combination of female and male hero, is a unique form of heroism. However, Judith attributes her victory against the Assyrians to God, a patriarchal figure, yet she is the character that acted and killed the king, bringing hope and strength to her tribe’s warriors so they could defeat the Assyrians. Therefore, the poet leaves it open to interpretation, if Judith is a warrior which usually is a male character, a saint, nor a male or female…
While I was reading this book I thought of David and the more I read the more I saw similarities between David and Robin so I looked into it and found that, Robin was a knight and David was a shepherd. Both were honorable men that were eventually forced into hiding. Both men were noted for being excellent fighters. Robin was known for his bow and arrow and David for his sling and stone. Both respected their kings greatly, and both took down their foes, Robin killed Guy of Gisbourne and David killed Goliath.…
