Heroes In Joe's Reward

Strong, handsome, quick-thinking, humble, courageous, and kind are all qualities heroes usually have. Most myths have heroes who do brave actions to defeat evil or save a life. The plot of “Joe's Reward” draws on elements commonly found in myths like having a main character who is a humble, courageous and kind. To start off, heros resemble courage. The passage states “without hesitation he dived overboard, straight for the bottom. It was no easy matter.” (Alger) Joe didn't even think about getting hurt or killed, he knew what the right thing to do was and wasn't selfish about it. Like the myth mulan, mulan puts herself at risk, just to prevent her father from getting hurt. This myth also has a hero which is courageous.
